زمینه و هدف: با توجه به شیوع مشکلات روانشناختی در بیماران سرطانی، برخی از گزارش‌‌ها اثربخشی مدل خودکارآمدی را مقدم بر درمان‌های روانشناختی مرسوم قبلی برای افزایش رفاه بیماران سرطانی دانسته‌اند. بر‌این اساس پژوهش حاضر با هدف تعیین اثربخشی مدل مبتنی بر خودکارآمدی درد بر کیفیت زندگی بیماران مبتلا به سرطان بیمارستان امید شهرستان ارومیه انجام گرفت.
روش کار: این پژوهش، از نوع تجربی با طرح پیش‌آزمون- پس‌آزمون و با گروه کنترل بود. نمونه ها شامل 40 بیمار مبتلا به سرطان بیمارستان امید ارومیه در سال 1397 بودند. ابتدا از 250 بیمار مبتلا به سرطان، آزمون کیفیت زندگی به‌عمل آمد و از بین افرادی که در سطح نامطلوبی قرار داشتند، 40 نفر انتخاب شدند که به‌صورت جایگزینی تصادفی، تعداد 20 نفر از آنها در گروه آزمایش و 20 نفر در گروه کنترل قرار گرفتند. مداخله مبتنی بر خودکارآمدی درد طی 10 جلسه 90 دقیقه‌ای، هر هفته یک جلسه اجرا شد. پس از اتمام جلسات مجدداً آزمون کیفیت زندگی روی دو گروه اجرا گردید. داده‌‌ها با استفاده از آزمون کوواریانس چندمتغیره در نرم افزار SPSS-21 مورد تجزیه و تحلیل قرار گرفتند.
یافته ها: تحلیل داده‌‌ها نشان داد که بین میانگین نمره‌های پس‌آزمون گروه آزمایش و کنترل تفاوت معنی‌داری وجود داشت (0/01<p)، به نحوی که آموزش خودکارآمدی درد موجب بهبود مؤلفه‌های عملکردی کیفیت زندگی (جسمانی، ایفای نقش، احساسی، شناختی و اجتماعی) در گروه آزمایش شده بود(0/01<p).
نتیجه گیری: با توجه به تأثیر مثبت آموزش خودکارآمدی درد، استفاده از این ظرفیت‌‌ها و آموزشها در برنامه‌ریزی اقدامات بهداشت روانی به خصوص در مورد بیماران سرطانی توصیه می‌شود.
