زمینه و هدف: به موازات افزایش تعداد مبتلایان به بیماری کووید- 19 در ایران، افزایش موارد مسمومیت با الکل گزارش شد. همزمانی این دو شیوع همگانی سبب شد تا محققین مطالعه حاضر را با هدف تعیین دلایل مصرف الکل در برهه پاندمی کووید- 19 انجام دهند.
روش کار: این مطالعه، یک پژوهش مقطعی بود که در بازه زمانی اسفند 1398 تا فروردین 1399 انجام شد. در این مطالعه تمامی پرونده های پزشکی بیماران بستری شده در بیمارستان امام خمینی (ره) اردبیل به دلیل سوءمصرف الکل (182 بیمار) با استفاده از چک لیست محقق ساخته مورد بررسی قرار گرفت. داده های جمع آوری شده با نرم افزار SPSS-22 و با استفاده از شاخص های آماری مرکزی و پراکندگی برای بررسی میزان و نحوه توزیع متغیرها مورد تجزیه و تحلیل قرار گرفت.
یافته ها: از 182 بیمار بستری شده، 168 نفر دلیل اصلی سوءمصرف خود را ترس از کرونا ذکر کردند. بیشترین نوع الکل مصرفی (5/88%)، متانول بود. شایعترین علایم بیماران، تهوع (1/84%) و اختلالات بینایی (9/65%) بود. 159 نفر (4/87%) دچار عوارض و مشکلات شدید کلیوی شدند و 10 نفر (5/5%) از بیماران فوت کردند.
نتیجه گیری: با توجه به افزایش مصرف الکل در زمان پاندمی کووید- 19 و اثرات مخرب آن، به نظر می رسد آموزش همگانی و افزایش دانش در ارتباط با خطرات مصرف الکل و اصول صحیح پیشگیری و درمان بیماری در زمان پاندمی، ضروری است.
