Background: Investigating the factors such as self-actualization that affect the mental health and quality of life of students as the future builders of the country is of particular importance. The aim of the present study was to predict self-actualization based on psychological coherence and emotional self-awareness in female medical students in Shiraz.
Methods: This was a descriptive-correlational study. The study population included all medical students in Shiraz in 2024, of which 220 were selected through convenience sampling. Data collection tools included the self-actualization questionnaires of Soleimani et al., Antonovsky's sense of coherence, and Rifi et al.'s emotional self-awareness. Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise regression in SPSS-24 software were used to analyze the data.
Results: Based on the results of the regression test, psychological coherence at a rate of 0.41 and emotional self-awareness at a rate of 0.48 were able to directly predict self-actualization in medical students (p<0.05).
Conclusion: According to the study findings, psychologists and counselors, when counseling students, need to identify factors affecting self-actualization, such as psychological coherence and emotional self-awareness, and thereby reduce their psychological problems
