ABSTRACT

Background & objective: According to several factors which threatening nurses health and increasing complexity of nursing services, nurses as one the main links of the care chain, to address the increasing health promoter behaviors are demanding qualified and competent nurses for high quality clinical practices. Health promotion is considered an important element of the nurses' health that needs to replace in nurses lifestyle. So the present study was performed to determine the health related life style in nurses.

Methods: This research is a cross-sectional, descriptive analytical study that was aimec to determine health related life style in nurses. Tools to gather data in this research included: questionnaire of health promotion lifestyle profile and questionnaire of demographic data were filled by 110 nurses from zanjan medical science university at 2011 which sampling  and data were analyzed by SPSS v.16.

Results: The finding showed that from the six subscales of  healthy lifestyle behaviors (Interpersonal relationship, nutrition, health responsibility, exercise, stress management and self actualization) lower score for exercise and stress  management and higher score for self actualization and interpersonal relation’s were found for nurses in the present study. Thus on the basis of chi-square test there was meaningful relationship between demographic variable’s and health promoting-behaviors total score in the most of subscale’s (p<0.05) .

Conclusion: With regard to data analysis, in general, in this study nurses showed intermediate levels of health promoting behaviors. Also for the purpose of improved health –promoting behaviors application by nurses, establishedment of nursing health –promotion committee in hospitals with emphasis health –promoting behaviors, recommended
