Abstract:   (227 Views)
Background & Aim: The high workload and shortage of the nurses have greatly affected the quality of nursing care. This study was conducted to compare the quality of nursing care from the patients’ and nurses’ perspective in selected educational hospitals of the Gorgan City.
Methods: This study was a descriptive, analytic and cross-sectional study that was conducted in selected educational hospitals of the Gorgan City in 2022. The stratified random sampling was used to select 213 nurses and 213 patients in the mentioned hospitals. The data was collected by demographic-professional information sheet and QUALPAC nursing care quality questionnaire. Descriptive statistics and Spearman, Mann-Whitney, and Kruskal-Wallis correlation coefficient tests were used in SPSS-24 software for data analysis.
Results: The mean age of nurses was 33.66±7.88 and the mean age of patients was 49.72±14.1 years. The total quality score of nursing care was 2.97±0.41 and 2.51±0.71 from the nurses' and patients' perspective accordingly. There was a significant difference between the quality of nursing care from the patients’ and nurses’ perspective in general and by dimensions (p<0.001).
Conclusion: The quality of nursing care from nurses’ and patients’ perspective shows the gap between these two points of view. Therefore, it may be beneficial to pay attention to the needs of patients and taking actions to increase the appropriate therapeutic relationship between nurse and patient
