Background: Learning behaviors are formed in a continuous learning process by learners in educational environments and are crucial for the development of academic skills in students. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the status of learning behaviors among nursing students at Ardabil University of Medical Sciences in 2024.
Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 423 nursing, operating room, and emergency medicine students at Ardabil University of Medical Sciences. The sampling method was simple random. To collect data, a demographic information sheet and a standard questionnaire on student learning behaviors by Wu et al. were used. Data was analyzed using SPSS version 26 using descriptive (mean and standard deviation) and analytical statistics (independent t-test, one-sample t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficient).
Results: The mean score of students' learning behaviors was 84.77±13.83. Most of the studied students (68.5%) reported their learning behaviors at an average level. Among the demographic variables, a statistically significant relationship was found between gender, field of study, intention to change fields, semester average grade, satisfaction with field of study, and residence status and learning behaviors (p<0.001).
Conclusion: The learning behaviors status of the studied students was at an average level, indicating challenges in improving independent learning. Furthermore, there was a statistically significant relationship between learning behaviors and certain personal and social characteristics of students. These findings indicate the importance of paying attention to individual and environmental factors affecting students' learning behaviors. Given the status of learning behaviors in students, it is recommended to develop and implement targeted educational programs and provide appropriate supportive conditions to enhance students' learning behaviors.
